Lending, Renew and Return Policies
Registration and Renewal of Membership
Application for membership can be submitted at the circulation counter from 8 a.m to 8 p.m. on normal working days. Loan counter will start functioning after half an hour from the opening of the library and will be closed before half an hour of the closing of the library.. Library offers temporary membership also . Fee of Rs.10/- for one day and Rs.100/- for 2 weeks has to be remitted at the circulation counter. Remittances at the library counter alone is entertained and no other means of payment is accepted in this regard.

A recent stamp size photograph has to be produced along with the filled up form for affixing on the ID card. The members must bring the ID card while visiting the library.

Log in to your library account using your library username and password

The items you currently have checked out from CHMK Library will be listed

To renew items, select the checkbox next to each item you wish to renew

Click the applicable ‘Renew’ button

Note the new due date or the fact that the item has not been renewed

Items may be renewed for two circulation period.

The next due date will be determined by the date of renewal, not the original due date.

Items may be renewed twice only. Items must be brought to the library to be checked in and then checked out again to continue borrowing.

If another patron has placed a hold on an item, renewal (online or in person) will not be allowed.
Place Holds Online

Go to the library catalog

Open the record page for the item you wish to place a hold on

In the Holdings tab, click the item status button and choose ‘Hold ’

Log in using your username and password

Add any comments and check the required date

Click ‘Submit Request’

Fines & Fees
Books are issued for a period of one month and an overdue charge of 50 paise per volume per day shall be levied for a book not returned on or before the due date. Failure to clear all outstanding dues within six months may entail the forfeiture of membership. There is an overdue charge ofRs. 5/- per day for Text books issued for overnight reading.
Fines will be kept pending as “due from borrower” in the system and it can be remitted at the circulation counter itself. The identity card and borrower’s tickets issued from the library are to be returned for obtaining clearance certificate. If these are lost, an amount of Rs. 25/-(rupees twenty five only) for identity card and Rs. 20/- (rupees twenty only) for each borrower’s ticket have to be remitted for issuing clearance certificate.
